co-creating
futures without violence

Starting
this summer

Healing Courage joins with the newly created Jefferson county Advisory Council for Community & Restorative Justice to launch an initiative that aims to address harm in our community with a focus on healing, accountability & repair.

Intimate harm, elder abuse, and sexual violence don't happen in a vacuum. These interpersonal violations take place in the context of relationships. They often happen in the context of community. The impacts of these violations are far-reaching, socially complex, and can be lifelong.

Through community conversations this summer, we’ll address intimate harm in the context of community and explore the complexities surrounding these community issues. Together, we’ll challenge the cultural myths that often silence survivors, name the barriers many face within the criminal legal system, and explore the need for restorative justice (RJ) and community-based responses to harm.

This fall, we’ll launch a Consentric Circles series—a healing and learning conversation developed by Healing Courage that centers survivor wisdom, deep listening, and meaningful dialogue as tools for transformation.

While this initiative focuses on survivors of intimate violence (ages 50+), this project will also serve survivors of other forms of elder harm, including emotional/psychological abuse, financial exploitation, neglect, and abandonment.

Whether you're a victim-survivor, family member, community member, advocate, or simply curious about how we can better support those impacted by harm, your voice is welcome and needed.

This collective effort has the potential to extend well beyond the current grant period and help our county move towards a more just and restorative Jefferson County, across all ages, sectors, and systems of care.

This work is generously supported by Futures Without Violence STAGES (Strategies to Advance Greater Elder Safety) Pathways Grant.
